Jesse Crain: Gone by Saturday?

Jesse Crain is insane in the membrane if he thinks the Twins will keep him beyond Saturday’s deadline.
Joe C posted an estimate of the Minnesota Twins current 2010 payroll today.  The most glaring problem?  The bullpen eats up too much of the payroll.

Starting lineup: $54 mil
Bench:  $2.1 mil
Starting Rotation: $11.9 mil
Bullpen: $21.4 mil

He reports that […]

Twins in the Mix for DeRosa

The agent for Mark DeRosa, Keith Grunewald, was quoted yesterday saying the Twins are one of a dozen teams that have inquired about the type B free agent:
Of the Dodgers’ interest in DeRosa, Grunewald said, “The interest is mutual.” But the agent said that the Dodgers are one of a dozen teams that have asked about DeRosa, […]

Delmon Young… Gone Next Week?

This morning Howard Sinker dropped the biggest hot stove bomb of the off-season so far.  When Gardenhire was asked about the outfield at an event in Fargo yesterday, he said outright that his starting three are Cuddyer, Gomez and Span — presumably leaving Delmon Young as the odd man out.
“Those three guys need to play […]

Casey Blake?

What a perfect nothing! He is good, not great, the Twins can say they did something and really did nothing. He wants three years and about 6 million. An Ex-Twin, a team player, a good clubhouse guy, is he an upgrade- yes, but than who at Shortstop, Harris, Punto, or Tolbert, […]

So I am back!!

I had a off season after the playoffs, but I am back. So … Well, the Twins had a pretty good year, with a lot of young talent. So they could go back with same team next year and probably be close to has good as they were this year. […]

Twins sacrifice Lamb

To make room for Guardado, the Twins have designated third baseman Mike Lamb for release or assignment. The Twins signed Lamb to a two-year, $6.6 million deal in December to be their starting third baseman. He struggled early in the season and lost his job. He was used very sparingly in a […]

Twins fans follow Gardy

I did not see tonights game, but man I wished I was there.  Kelly Thesier writes:
Gardenhire got into a heated argument with Foster about the call and earned his fifth ejection of the season and 41st of his career. On his way off the field, Gardenhire threw his hat into the air and punted it […]

How to Be a Minnesota Sports Fan

Joe Cowley, beat writer for Griffey Jr’s White Sox wrote this take on being a Minnesota sports fan… today, this seemed fitting to share after the Twins’ wholly disappointing approach to the trade deadline. Will the Twins ever follow the Vikings’ lead and become buyers?? If the buying brings a superbowl, Twins […]

Bill Smith to Speak at 4:30pm

The expectation is that Twins’ GM Bill Smith will have nothing to talk about, but he’s holding a news conference at 4:30pm CDT.
At this point, it sounds like Jason Bay is gone (to the Red Sox)… so that definitely didn’t happen.  I’m sure you’re all very surprised!
If he has a trade to announce, I’d say […]

Return of the Hawk? Twins Interested in LaTroy Hawkins

I remember the first time I listened to KFAN I heard Barreiro whining about how horrible LaTroy Hawkins was in the closer role.  His mental toughness, etc.  It stuck in my mind because the whining was so freakin obnoxious and now is seared along w/ the many good memories of LaTroy’s glory days in Sota.  […]
