Odds & Ends, Liriano Expected within a Couple Days

Pioneer Press reports that Francisco Liriano will meet with a physician in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, in hopes of clearing up his visa problems. Bill Smith said the team hopes to see him here in a couple of days.

Other Odds and Ends:

Alexi Casilla missed his appointment last week to pick up his visa due to what Smith said was, “a legitimate family medical emergency.’’ Casilla is trying to have his appointment rescheduled as soon as possible, with help from the MLB office. There’s a chance he’ll miss the first full-squad workout on Saturday (thanks LENIII).

Left-handed reliever Dennys Reyes has hit a snag with his passport; he’s expected to get it resolved in Mexico today and presumably report to camp tomorrow (thanks Phil Miller).

Just spent 15 minutes watching Carlos Gomez take his first swings as a Twin. Judging by his swing, he’s clearly pumped up to be here. (thanks thanks Phil Miller).

“Whenever your emphasis is pitching and defense and fundamentals, that’s what wins championships,” said Everett, considered perhaps the game’s best fielding shortstop. “That’s what they’ve been breeding around here.” (thanks Phil Miller)
